In line with the 62nd Berlinale the documentation „Marina Abramović. The Artist is Present“ by Matthew Akers debuted in Europe last Saturday, 11th February 2012. The movie revived Abramović`s famous silent performance „The Artist is Present", that was presented at MoMa in 2010. During the European premiere in KW Institute for Contemporary Art in Berlin the artist and her guests performed "Silent Party" - a mute get together.

To underline the impressive silence Urbanears' popular headphone Plattan was part of the performance and was worn by the visitors as well as by Marina Abramović herself.

Urbanears is excited to announce our first ever retail endeavor, located at Boxpark – the world’s first pop-up mall. Located next to Shoreditch High Street Station in London, U.K, Boxpark is an exciting new approach to retail, as the entire complex is made out of shipping containers. Much like the Urbanears philosophy of using unexpected materials in new and different ways, using shipping containers as modular retail units is what attracted Urbanears to the Boxpark concept.

Designed by 42architects, the store is focuses on the contrast between the highly colorful products and a monochromatic, white interior. The back wall is made of a backlit Perspex frame, illuminated by an RGB Led light, which responds to the sounds in the shop and shifts between the seasonal color palettes of the Urbanears headphones. At night, the shop becomes a colorful beacon for the partygoers and visitors of Shoreditch and Brick Lane. All the headphones on display are available for customers to try on and plug in to their own mobile devices.
