Last week was Paris Design Week and Urbanears took part with a Pop-Up store at Merci, the 16,000 square foot concept store which is a mecca for design and fashion lovers alike.

Summer is not quite over yet, but we’re already getting excited about next season.

Our Fall/Winter 2012 collection is officially out today and we’re including three new colors to the standard Urbanears line-up: Forest, Rust and Pumpkin. This trio of inspired shades reflects some of the most sought-after Urbanears colors, including Green and Orange.

So what features come with the most ambitious headphone we’ve ever created?

First off is the TurnCable, our solution for an adapter-free life. Completely detachable, the TurnCable comes with two plugs, one on each end. There’s a 6.3mm plug on one end for DJ sessions and a 3.5mm plug for music listening on the other, because as much as you want to, you can’t spend all hours of the day plugged into your mixer.

With a coiled section on the cord, the TurnCable lets you move about without getting unplugged and disrupting the sound coming from your headphones. It’s also designed for maximum durability with a rugged Kevlar® core – a material strong enough to stop bullets.

We thought you might appreciate having the ZoundPlug on the Zinken, so we took this feature – originally on our Plattan headphones – and incorporated it into the design so a friend can plug in and listen to your music.

People tend to wear their headphones for hours on end, and we took this into consideration when developing Zinken. We can say with confidence that Zinken is one of the most comfortable headphones to put on and keep on for extended periods of time – whether on a long commute or an extra-long DJ session.

To get into specifics, the Zinken features swivel caps and an adjustable headband that allows you to wear your headphones in a variety of ways. The ear cushions are made with increased foam density, multiplying the comfort factor while providing superior noise isolation.

The Zinken’s collapsible design also makes storage and transport easy, so you can toss them in your bag and be on your way without worrying about space or damage.

We thought a lot about the materials we chose to use for Zinken. We know that clubs can often be hot, so we made sure that the materials we used don’t absorb sweat or odors.

Of course, the Zinken also features a microphone and remote that’s compatible with iPhone, Blackberry, HTC, Samsung and more, so you can use them to pick up and make calls.

Zinken is a brand new approach to the concept of a headphone as a musical instrument. Developed with the professional DJ in mind, with respect to the wallet of the unpaid amateur, Zinken is chock-full of handy features that you never even knew you needed.

Urbanears is headed to Göteborg this summer for Way Out West, one of Sweden’s most anticipated summer music festivals.

Last month, we gave you a chance to vote for your favorite Urbanears color in the Bring it Back Color Challenge on our Facebook page. The result was overwhelmingly green, with Teal topping the charts as the color you wanted to see back most.

So for you, dear Teal fans, we’ve restocked our online shop with the Teal color across all four of our Urbanears models. Go on, get them before they are gone again.

Now that you’ve become a bit more familiar with the look and feel of Zinken, we thought we’d tell you more about how it sounds. Some words of warning though: you’ll have to hear it to believe it.

During the testing phase of Zinken, we spoke to a wide variety of DJs – those who play to sold out arenas and to those who only dream of making it big time. We found that not only were they looking for a headphone that was comfortable to wear, but also comfortable to listen to for hours on end.

Zinken is designed to provide superior noise isolation so that it excels in DJs environments, while bringing you a sound that’s relaxed and warm, making your listening experience comfortable and enjoyable. To achieve this, our sound engineers tweaked the sound so that it comes as close to an ideal sound curve as possible. To get into specifics, Zinken’s custom-designed 40 mm dual diaphragm drivers are finely tuned to provide amazing sound across the entire frequency spectrum, with slight adjustments to the low and high frequencies.

But even if you’re not a DJ, Zinken is still great for everyday listening. We can confidently say that these are headphones you will never want to take off.

But don’t take our word for it. Pick up a pair on July 16 to find out exactly what we mean.

In line with the 62nd Berlinale the documentation „Marina Abramović. The Artist is Present“ by Matthew Akers debuted in Europe last Saturday, 11th February 2012. The movie revived Abramović`s famous silent performance „The Artist is Present", that was presented at MoMa in 2010. During the European premiere in KW Institute for Contemporary Art in Berlin the artist and her guests performed "Silent Party" - a mute get together.

To underline the impressive silence Urbanears' popular headphone Plattan was part of the performance and was worn by the visitors as well as by Marina Abramović herself.

Urbanears is excited to announce our first ever retail endeavor, located at Boxpark – the world’s first pop-up mall. Located next to Shoreditch High Street Station in London, U.K, Boxpark is an exciting new approach to retail, as the entire complex is made out of shipping containers. Much like the Urbanears philosophy of using unexpected materials in new and different ways, using shipping containers as modular retail units is what attracted Urbanears to the Boxpark concept.

Designed by 42architects, the store is focuses on the contrast between the highly colorful products and a monochromatic, white interior. The back wall is made of a backlit Perspex frame, illuminated by an RGB Led light, which responds to the sounds in the shop and shifts between the seasonal color palettes of the Urbanears headphones. At night, the shop becomes a colorful beacon for the partygoers and visitors of Shoreditch and Brick Lane. All the headphones on display are available for customers to try on and plug in to their own mobile devices.
