    Urbanears Hideout at ADE

For the third year in a row, the Urbanears Hideout provided the ultimate retreat at the Amsterdam Dance Event

     - More from Inside Urbanears

ADE means many things to many people, but for Urbanears, it’s a chance to tap into our music roots, reconnect with old friends, meet new people, and gather inspiration. But, most importantly, it’s about being part of an event that is as passionate about music as we are. For the third year in a row, we built our hideout in a penthouse high atop the Rokin in a space fittingly named The View. It was there that we created a retreat unlike any other.

The Urbanears Hideout was open to the public every day, serving as a sort of cultural incubator that embraced everything Amsterdam Dance Event had to offer while also providing a relaxing sanctuary for weary festival goers. For three days in a row, we invited visitors to kick back and relax, soak in rays on the balcony, listen to inspiring talks, dig through crates at the pop up Clone Record Store, and experience some memorable performances by guest DJs and musicians. Guest DJs and sets included a session currated by PLAYdifferently x Plus 8 Equity (Btraits & John Acquaviva), Frangie, La Fleur, Andrew James Gustav, and Sebastian Mullaert.

We once again teamed up with the Rotterdam stronghold, Clone Records, to produce arguably the most inspiring place to discover new records.

The pop up Clone Records store was situated in a room surrounded by glass windows on three sides, and visitors could sample tracks with Zinken DJ Headphones while simultaneously looking out over the iconic Amsterdam steeples, canals, and trams. If you were lucky, you could even strike up a conversation with some of the top DJs at ADE.

Something new at the Urbanears Hideout this year was a series of daily curated talks by PIP Den Haag. The host, Steven Van Lummel, created an intimate atmosphere around each talk session, not only conversing with his guests (Tom Trago, David Vunk, Sei Koichi, William DjokoSan Proper, DollkrautSerge and Jonathan Scratchley), but also interacting with the crowd to make them a part of the experience. The talks were always finished off with live, organic sets by Palmbomen II and Elektrovolt.

Of course, the Urbanears Hideout wouldn’t exist without a couple of surprises. Tucked away in the back of the hideout was an infinity room with Zinken DJ Headphones hookups supplying a dose of relaxing music to soothe even the most dedicated ADE warriors.
